Hello friends ,
Today i am going to discuss how to find the total no. of sigma and pi bond in a given hydrocarbon.
Most of the students got confused in finding sigma and pi bond .so we tried to solve this confusion by writing answer of  this question .i think after reading my answer you will learn something new and different.
1.if carbon has only single bond -it is alwaS sigma bond
2.if carbon has double bond then 1 bond will be sigma bond and other will be pi bond.
3. if carbon has triple bond then there will be 1 sigma bond and pi bond
take an example-
CH4
In the structure is CH4 it has 4 sigma and 0 pi bonds .
